A new phone purchase can feel oddly complicated. You are not only choosing a handset, but also weighing up a network, a tariff, an upgrade date, delivery and the small print around cashback. Mobiles.co.uk has built its identity around making that decision easier, with a broad online range and practical routes for different budgets.

The story starts in 1995, when Mobiles.co.uk launched as the UK’s first online mobile phone retailer. Today it is part of Currys Retail Limited, but the customer-facing promise remains clear: offer useful choice, competitive value and expert help for people who would rather compare their options online. That combination is the reason a first-time visitor should take a closer look.

Choice across phone plans

Mobiles.co.uk is not tied to one handset family or one way of paying. You can browse a new contract, an upgrade, a SIM-only plan, a SIM-free phone or a refurbished device. There are familiar names such as Apple, Samsung and Google, alongside brands including HONOR, Motorola, Nokia, OPPO and Xiaomi.

That breadth is useful because the best phone for one person may be completely wrong for another. Someone who wants to own a handset outright can explore SIM-free phones, while someone focused on spreading the cost can compare pay-monthly contracts. Existing customers can also look at upgrade options, and careful budget shoppers have a refurbished route to consider.

• SIM-free: buy the handset outright and choose a SIM separately.
• Contracts: combine a phone with minutes, texts and data.
• SIM-only: keep your current phone while changing your plan.
• Refurbished: look for a lower price on extensively checked devices.

The result is a catalogue that feels more like a comparison starting point than a single sales pitch. You can filter by brand, price, storage, colour and other features, then decide how much flexibility you actually need.

A confident phone choice

The brand’s own language centres on being the smart phone people. That is more than a memorable line: it points to a service model based on helping customers make a confident choice rather than simply pushing the newest release. Its UK experts are available for questions, while online account tools cover tracking, delivery and cashback.

There is also a strong emphasis on value. Mobiles.co.uk highlights competitive offers, cashback by redemption and automatic cashback deals, depending on the product and tariff. Offers change, so it is sensible to check the current special offers, read the deal terms and compare the total cost rather than judging a contract only by its monthly price.

Convenience is another part of the promise. The retailer advertises free next-day delivery with a one-hour time slot on eligible orders. It has also collected industry recognition, including Best Online Retailer 2025 and a Highly Commended Customer Service 2024 mention at the Mobile News Awards, alongside Retailer of the Year 2023 at the Mobile Industry Awards.

1. Start with the way you want to pay.
2. Filter by the features that matter to your everyday use.
3. Compare the total cost, delivery and any cashback conditions.
4. Check the support and returns information before ordering.

That process makes the site approachable for a first-time buyer. You do not need to know the perfect model before you begin. You only need a rough idea of your budget and whether your priority is camera quality, battery life, screen size, storage or a flexible network.

Handsets across the range

Product examples make the brand easier to understand. At the premium end, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro 256GB combines a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with Apple Intelligence, an A19 Pro chip and a triple 48MP camera system. For someone who takes photography and video seriously, it shows why a specialist retailer needs detailed product pages, not just a generic handset grid.

The Google Pixel 10 128GB has a different appeal: a 6.3-inch OLED screen, Google AI and Gemini features, a 4,970mAh battery, a 48MP triple-lens camera and IP68-rated protection. This is the kind of phone that makes sense for a buyer who wants helpful software and photography tools without automatically moving to the highest price tier.

Then there is the Samsung Galaxy S25 128GB. It brings a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, Galaxy AI and Bixby, a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and a 50MP triple-lens camera. It is a strong example of how the range lets shoppers compare different approaches to flagship Android design.

• iPhone 17 Pro: a premium camera-led choice with Apple Intelligence.
• Google Pixel 10: an AI-focused option with a large battery and IP68 protection.
• Samsung Galaxy S25: a compact flagship with Galaxy AI and a bright AMOLED display.

Prices and stock can change, especially around launches and promotions, so treat those figures as a snapshot and use the linked product pages to see today’s position. The important point is the mix: Mobiles.co.uk puts headline models, practical alternatives and refurbished choices in one place.

Choosing a phone your way

The useful thing about Mobiles.co.uk is not that it promises one universally perfect phone. It gives you a way to make the decision on your terms. If you already know the brand you want, you can go straight to Apple, Samsung or Google. If you only know that your old phone is slow, you can start with a budget or feature filter instead.

There are also practical reasons to keep the retailer on your shortlist:

• Long experience: an online mobile specialist since 1995.
• Wide choice: handsets, networks, tariffs, gifts and payment routes.
• Flexible ownership: contract, upgrade, SIM-only, SIM-free and refurbished.
• Useful aftercare: delivery information, account tools and expert support.

When researching, I would compare at least two routes. Check the same handset as a SIM-free purchase, then look at its contract alternatives. Consider how much data you actually use, whether you need eSIM, how long you plan to keep the phone and whether a refurbished model could offer better value. A little comparison at the start can prevent a lot of regret later.

My overall impression is that Mobiles.co.uk earns attention through the combination of heritage and breadth. It has been around long enough to understand the mobile market, but its useful role today is straightforward: help people compare real phones, plans and prices in one online destination. Start with your use case, check the current deal details and let the range do the hard part.

Mobiles.co.uk is a smart first stop for anyone who wants more choice, clearer comparisons and a phone deal matched to real life.
